About the Team

Prostheses allowing for athletic top performances are the speciality of Ortokosmos. Several medals at Paralympic Games have been won with devices of the Russian firm, which is engaged in prosthetics since 1992. But Anastasia Mironova who leads the group preparing CYBATHLON says: "Our duty as a team is to enable a person to live a fulfilling life in our society through our prosthesis." Despite this, Team Ortokosmos which came in fourth in 2016 is taking on the challenge of CYBATHLON 2020 in competitive style. “Our strengths are the modularity and functionality of our prosthesis as well as our great pilot who has a lot of potential. The most important thing for us is to participate, but we work hard to win with Rinat.”

About the Pilot

"My family supports me in all my undertakings, always cheering me on and helping me to achieve my best physical performance so that I can be a role model for my two sons" says Rinat Khusainov. As a child he had an accident after which his left leg had to be amputated above the knee. Today he is working as an IT-specialist and lives in Russia with his family. Sports, especially snowboarding and traveling are his biggest passions. “Since I was a kid I have been doing sports. But when I was given the opportunity to participate in CYBATHLON, I saw it as a chance to show the world what people with disabilities can do, including the good handling of situations we encounter in daily life."
